Gloucester Fire Department Extinguishes House Fire
GLOUCESTER — Chief Eric Smith reports that the Gloucester Fire Department responded to a fire at a residence this morning.
At approximately 5:26 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to 12 Norseman Ave. for a report of a fire in an electrical panel. Upon arrival, units located fire burning near the electrical panel.
Crews from Engine 3 began working to extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher, but found the fire had extended into the walls of the home. A hose line was subsequently extended into the home and used to knock down the fire.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the fire may have been electrical in nature. Gloucester Fire is continuing to investigate. The cost of the damage was estimated at $75,000.
